Eight Dividend Declaration by Commercial Bank, how much of which?

Kathmandu : Eight commercial banks have declared dividends so far. Still 11 commercial banks are yet to declare dividends.

After mergers and acquisitions, there are now only 20 commercial banks. Among them, 8 commercial banks have already declared dividends. Since the government-owned National Commercial Bank has not issued shares to the general public, investors are not interested in what cash or bonus it gives. Another 11 banks are yet to distribute dividends.

Just today Global IME Bank Limited has announced the dividend to be distributed to the shareholders from the profit of the last financial year. The bank has announced to give 8% cash dividend and 1% bonus shares out of the 9% dividend of the current paid-up capital.

Earlier, Standard Chartered Bank had announced to distribute 19 percent cash dividend from last financial year’s profit. Also, Siddharth Bank has also announced to distribute cash dividend. Siddharth Bank is paying 4.21 percent dividend.

Five commercial banks have already sent dividends to the shareholders’ accounts by holding annual general meetings before Dashain. NIC Asia, Everest, Machhapuchhre, Sanima and Citizens Bank have already distributed dividends before Dashain.

Machhapuchhre Bank has already distributed 13.30% bonus shares of paid-up capital and 0.70% cash for tax purposes, totaling 14% dividend. However, its bonus shares have not been credited to the investor’s account.

In addition, NIC Asia Bank, which has announced to distribute the highest dividend ever, has already held its annual general meeting before Dashain. NIC Asia Bank had proposed to distribute a total of 30.5% as bonus shares and 1.5% cash of the paid-up capital.

Similarly, Sanima Bank has held its Annual General Meeting before Dashain. Sanima Bank had proposed to distribute a total of 14.70% dividend of 9% bonus shares and 5.7% cash of the paid up capital. The cash dividend distributed by Sanima Bank has also arrived in the shareholders’ accounts before Dashain.

Investors are waiting to see when the 11 banks that are yet to declare dividend will distribute the dividend. Even though 8 commercial banks have already distributed dividends, 11 commercial banks are yet to announce their dividends, investors are expecting to announce dividends before Tihar.
