“The role of insurance surveyor is very important to give a new height to the insurance sector”-Finance Minister Dr. Mahat
Kathmandu: Finance Minister Dr. Prakash Sharan Mahat said that the role of surveyor will be important to give new heights to the insurance sector. Finance Minister Dr. Mahat said, “Even though insurance started a long time ago, it has not yet become a common topic for Nepal. The idea that it is needed to reduce risk in our future life is now developing.”
Mahat expressed his concern on the topic that even now, most of the people understand that if they do not have any problem then why should they participate in insurance. Stating that there is a need for more insurance awareness, Minister Dr. Mahat said, “There is no problem if life or non-life is at risk if someone does insurance on it, these kind of trust must be created within the people if insurance company really want to get developed and stable.”
There are two problems in Nepal, he further said, “everyone can face problems, now we have to make some contribution and create awareness that the big risk that may occur tomorrow can be solved by insurance. Insurance companies are reluctant to pay even for those who are already insured. This kind of reluctance and delay in claim payment has created hinders to those who are looking to take potential on insurance.”
The Finance Minister also urged all the insurance companies and regulatory bodies to change the way they work to solve the problems seen now. He also suggested that professionalism should be kept at the centre. According to Dr. Mahat, the practice of insurance companies about advertising at the time of taking and depositing resources but taking many hassles while giving is not good and if it continues like this insurance then insurance company will lose trust from people.
“In such a situation, the role of the surveyor is important. It will be effective if the surveyor works in the middle of them.” Mahat further said, “The problem should be solved by keeping what is real without any influence. When this happens, no one is to blame.”
