Finally, The Governor of Nepal signed in the Anti-national Agreement, the conspiracy of handing over the bank account details of Nepalese to India Company
Kathmandu. Mahaprasad Adhikari, the Governor of Nepal Rastra Bank (Central Bank of Nepal), has finally embarked on a national strike. He has signed the Terms of Reference (TOR) regarding cross-border payments to hand over the bank account and financial details of Nepalese to the Indian agency.
From the outside, it looks like this agreement was made for fast and reliable payment purposes, but internally, it is understood that all the details related to the banks, financial accounts and transactions of Nepalese have been prepared to be handed over to the Indian agency. Just as the details of Nepalese driving license holders are under the control of the Indian agency, the Indian agency will know about the entire situation of banking and financial transactions as well as situation of Nepal.
What is surprising is that this agreement regarding cross-border payments should be made from the political level, but it is understood that the governor officer himself signed this TOR from the administrative level for his personal profile and benefits.
NPI and UPI have already started technical testing of payments. Although it is said that the TOR related to cross-border payments has been advanced to make the payment of remittances between Nepal and India at a fast and affordable rate, it is said that it will be counterproductive for Nepal. Some experts in this matter have said, “When there are voices that the legacy with Indian Currency should be broken to break the dependency with India, on the contrary, cross-border payments will make Nepal more dependent.”
On the other hand, India is seen as laying a net of cross-border payments to establish a Hindu campaign in Nepal. It is being said that India has taken a strategy to have access to the personal details of Nepali citizens through electronic payments and to conduct campaigns accordingly.
Last May, 2023 A.D, during Prime Minister Prachanda’s visit to India, an agreement was made regarding the Nepal-India cross-border payment. At that time, Neeleshman Singh Pradhan, CEO of Nepal Clearing House Limited (NCHL) and Ritesh Shukla, CEO of NPCI International Payments Limited (NIPL), signed on behalf of India.
