Nepal Insurance Authority Approves Revised Staff Regulations

October 25th, 2024

Kathmandu- Nepal Insurance Authority’s Board of Directors, approved a proposal to revise its staff regulations, introducing changes aimed at enhancing organizational structure and promoting employee growth.

The revised framework will now include two deputy executive director and two directors. The structure of NIA will be shaped with one executive director, two deputy executive directors, and six directors, higher roles in the authority’s leadership.

Under the newly approved structure, the positions of executive director and deputy executive directors are categorized as special positions. Despite earlier rumors suggesting that the executive director might be appointed externally, the Board has resolved to promote from within. Three existing directors will be elevated to the special category, with one selected as the executive director based on performance evaluations, seniority, and other criteria, while the remaining two will assume the roles of deputy executive directors.

Additionally, six deputy directors will be promoted to fill the vacant director posts. The new system ensures equal opportunities for promotion across all levels, fostering a competitive and fair environment for the Authority’s staff.

The new regulations also establish term limits, stipulating that the executive director and deputy executive directors can only serve in their roles for a maximum of six years.
