Santosh Narayan Shrestha Appointed Chairman of Nepal Securities Board
Kathmandu – The Securities Board of Nepal (SEBON) has appointed Santosh Narayan Shrestha as its new chairman after a prolonged vacancy. The decision was finalized during a cabinet meeting held on Monday. .
The selection process was guided by a committee led by National Planning Commission Vice Chairman Prof. Dr. Shiva Raj Adhikari. The committee had recommended three candidates to the Ministry of Finance: SEBON Executive Director Dr. Nabaraj Adhikari, Executive Director Mukti Shrestha, and Santosh Narayan Shrestha. The cabinet ultimately entrusted Shrestha with the role.
The position of SEBON chairman had been vacant since January 6, during which time interim responsibilities were managed by a joint secretary from the Ministry of Finance.
Shrestha’s appointment comes with high expectations for improving the board’s performance and advancing Nepal’s capital market. His leadership is anticipated to focus on policy reforms, investor confidence, market innovation, and the internationalization of the securities market.
