December 29th, 2024

Kathmandu – Non-life insurance companies in Nepal have collectively earned insurance premiums exceeding Rs 17.51 billion across all seven provinces as of Mangsir (Mid- December), according to the Nepal Insurance Authority.

The companies have generated this revenue through various insurance categories, including property, marine, aviation, motor, engineering and contract, miscellaneous, agriculture and crop, and microinsurance.

Bagmati Province has emerged as the largest contributor, with companies earning Rs 11.62 billion in premiums. As the province hosts the capital city and is more developed in terms of infrastructure, insurers have been able to conduct aggressive business operations there.

Lumbini Province ranks second, contributing Rs 1.59 billion, followed by Koshi Province with Rs 1.51 billion. Madhesh Province also recorded significant business, with companies earning over Rs 1.20 billion in premiums.

Other provinces include Gandaki Province at Rs 962.5 million, Sudurpaschim Province at Rs 452.5 million, and Karnali Province the least at Rs 159.4 million. Despite its remote geography and underdeveloped infrastructure, Karnali Province has shown progress due to the relentless efforts of insurance agents and companies.
