Stock Market Rises Slightly, Insurance Investors Reap Gains

Kathmandu – The Nepali stock market witnessed a modest increase on Tuesday, the third trading day of the week, bringing cheer to investors in the insurance sector. Both the Life Insurance and Non-Life Insurance indices closed in the green, boosting the wealth of shareholders in all listed insurance companies.

The Life Insurance Index saw an uptick of 1.10% (139 points), closing at 12,833.40. Notably, all 12 life insurance companies traded under this index recorded gains. Among them, Prabhu Mahalaxmi Life Insurance emerged as the top gainer, with its share price rising by 2.66% (Rs 15 per share). Additionally, Sun Nepal Life Insurance and Reliable Nepal Life Insurance recorded significant gains of 1.89% and 1.82%, respectively.

Similarly, the Non-Life Insurance Index experienced a stronger rise, climbing 1.78% (223 points) to settle at 12,755. Like their life insurance counterparts, all 12 non-life insurance companies registered gains, with Himalayan Everest Insurance leading the pack. Its share price surged by an impressive 4.32%. Meanwhile, shares of Himalayan Reinsurance and Nepal Reinsurance also showed positive momentum, contributing to the overall bullish sentiment.
