More Than Half of Nepal’s Population Lacks Insurance Coverage

Kathmandu – A significant portion of Nepalese population remains outside the insurance network, with 56.06% of people not accessing any insurance services, according to the recent data from the Nepal Insurance Authority (NIA).
As of end of the Magh month (mid-February), only 43.94% of Nepalese have insurance coverage, marking a slight decline compared to the end of the last fiscal year 2079/80, when the figure stood at 44.38%.
