Kathmandu – The Nepal Insurance Authority has resumed the online examination application process for insurance agents, which had been suspended since Falgun 13 (February 25).The application process was halted to align with the new provisions introduced under the recently implemented Insurance Regulations, 2081.

With the resumption of applications, aspiring insurance agents must now adhere to updated requirements, including an increased examination fee. Previously set at Rs 500, the fee has now been raised to Rs 2,500 under the new regulations.

In addition to the fee hike, the new regulations have introduced stricter educational qualifications for both existing and new agents. For license renewal, current agents must have passed the SLC (School Leaving Certificate), while new applicants are now required to have completed their 12th grade. The process of becoming an insurance agent has been further systematized with mandatory special training and examinations. Additionally, a structured licensing process has been introduced for insurance brokers and third-party facilitators.
