Nepal Insurance Authority Directs Establishment of Investment Management Units

Kathmandu – The Nepal Insurance Authority has instructed all life insurance, non-life insurance, and reinsurance companies to establish an “Investment Management Unit” under the leadership of senior management personnel with relevant investment experience.
According to the Authority, the companies must establish the unit and notify the Authority within seven days. Similarly, microinsurance companies have been directed to assign the responsibility of investment management to high-level management employees with related experience and inform the Authority within the same timeframe.
The Authority has also instructed all insurance companies to provide details within seven days if they have already implemented investment-related provisions.
