Nearly Rs 50 Million Insurance Claim Filed Over Tinkune Incident

Kathmandu – The recent Tinkune incident on Chaitra 15 (March 28) has led to insurance claims worth nearly Rs 50 million, according to details released by the Nepal Insurance Authority on Thursday. A total of 11 non-life insurance companies in Nepal have received claims amounting to Rs 48.7 million.
The highest number of claims has been filed by the government-owned Rastriya Beema Company, totaling Rs 12.7 million from two claims. Siddhartha Premier Insurance follows with eight claims worth Rs 11.7 million and five additional claims totaling Rs 6.89 million.
Neco Insurance has received claims worth Rs 5.2 million, while The Oriental Insurance has a single claim of Rs 4.7 million. Additionally, National Insurance has registered 11 claims totaling Rs 2.75 million.
Other insurers have also received claims: Himalayan Everest Insurance (Rs 1.69 million), IGI Prudential Insurance (Rs 1.46 million), Shikhar Insurance (Rs 1.32 million), Nepal Insurance (Rs 871,000), and Prabhu Insurance with the lowest claim of Rs 50,000. Meanwhile, three out of the 14 non-life insurance companies have not received any claims.
Shikhar Insurance, known for its swift claim settlements, had previously led in payouts during last September floods and landslides. The company has now paid three claims worth Rs 45,000 related to the Tinkune incident.
The arson and vandalism during pro-monarchy protest resulted in significant damage to private property, vehicles, and businesses, leading to increased insurance claims. All Insurance companies will process the claims after damage assessment reports are submitted by surveyors.
