Kathmandu – For over two decades, Bikash Pathak has been a dedicated figure in Nepal’s life insurance landscape, emerging as a trusted protector for thousands across eastern Nepal. Balancing his responsibilities as a grocery store owner and a devoted family man, Pathak has long made insurance not just a profession—but a lifelong mission.
Currently serving as the Agency Manager at Citizen Life Insurance’s Dhulabari branch, Pathak’s journey began in 2064 BS when he first joined MetLife Insurance as an agent. Despite opportunities to pursue foreign employment and having passed Korea’s EPS language test in 2066 BS, he chose to stay in Nepal. A pivotal moment came when he handed over a death claim to the family of a deceased policyholder, whose tears became a turning point in his life.
Since then, Pathak has been steadfast in his belief that insurance is not just a financial product, but a safeguard for families during life’s most vulnerable moments. His commitment has earned him the trust of his community, and in 2079 BS, he was recognized as a Silver Club winner at Citizen Life.
Pathak who was born in Mechinagar Municipality-11, Jhapa, in 2037 BS, his academic journey led him through Balbhadra Janata Secondary School and later Dhulabari Multiple Campus. He was raised in a modest household as the youngest son of Raghunath and Binita Pathak, his values of humility, hard work, and service took root early.
Through years of consistent service, training, and self-discipline, Pathak has become a leading agent in Koshi Province. He is known for his empathetic approach, financial literacy, and ability to communicate complex policies with clarity, he is now a household name in Jhapa and surrounding districts.
One of the key policies he champions is Citizen Life’s “Jeevan Sarathi”—has become a popular choice among locals for its promise of long-term security. He also believes people choose insurance not just for company reputation, but because of the trust they place in their agents.
While he acknowledges growing skepticism in recent years due to some emerging companies’ mishandling of claims, Pathak remains undeterred. “Awareness, honesty, and consistent service can overcome mistrust,” he maintains.
As Nepal grapples with youth unemployment, Pathak views the insurance agent profession as a dignified path that offers both financial stability and societal contribution. His work has not only provided financial relief to grieving families but has also helped spread insurance literacy to underserved communities.
Today, Pathak stands as a shining example of how one individual’s perseverance can transform lives and restore faith in a vital social safety net. His journey continues anchored in service, driven by compassion, and dedicated to building a more secure future for every citizen he meets.
