Insurance Companies in Nepal Invest Over Rs 800 Billion in Various Sectors

Kathmandu – Insurance companies in Nepal have invested over Rs 800 billion across various sectors during the third quarter of the current fiscal year, according to the Nepal Insurance Authority.
Life insurance companies have made a total investment of Rs 733.75 billion, while non-life insurers have invested Rs 68.74 billion.
Life Insurance Companies
Among life insurance companies , Nepal Life leads with Rs 187.83 billion invested, followed by Life Insurance Corporation (LIC) Nepal with Rs 113.82 billion, and National Life with Rs 66.23 billion. Other notable investments include Himalayan Life (Rs 72.43 billion), Rastriya Beema Company (Rs 65.52 billion), and Asian Life (Rs 45.24 billion).
The majority of life insurance investments, amounting to Rs 514.42 billion, are in term deposits of commercial banks. Additional investments include Rs 60.08 billion in term deposits at finance companies, Rs 57.20 billion in preference shares, bonds and debentures of banks and financial institutions, Rs 33.79 billion in listed public company shares, and Rs 11.24 billion in projects related to agriculture, energy, tourism, education, and health.
Non- Life Insurance Companies
On the non-life side, Sagarmatha Lumbini tops with Rs 6.47 billion invested, followed by IGI Prudential (Rs 4.88 billion) and Shikhar Insurance (Rs 4.86 billion). Significant investments include Rs 45.70 billion in commercial banks, Rs 5.21 billion in development banks, and Rs 4.54 billion in listed public company shares. Non-life insurance companies have also allocated funds to mutual funds, renewable energy, and infrastructure sectors.
