Twelve Life Insurance Companies Declare Bonus Rates for Fiscal Year 2080/81

Kathmandu — Twelve out of the fourteen life insurance companies in Nepal have announced their bonus rates for participating life insurance policies for the fiscal year 2080/81, following approval from the Nepal Insurance Authority. The rates are based on actuarial valuations and are applicable per Rs 1,000 sum assured.
1. National Life Insurance
National Life Insurance has declared the highest bonus rate this year, offering up to Rs 85 per thousand sum assured. Its rates range from Rs 63 to Rs 85 depending on the type and duration of the policy.
2. Nepal Life Insurance
Nepal Life Insurance has also announced attractive bonus rates. While most of its plans range from Rs 56 to Rs 82, certain policies such as the Jeevan Sarathi Yojana reach up to Rs 85 per thousand, making it one of the top-performing insurers in terms of policyholder returns.
3. SuryaJyoti Life Insurance
SuryaJyoti Life has declared a maximum bonus of Rs 90 per thousand under its “Chaurasi Puja Life Insurance Plan.” However, the company’s other policies have significantly lower bonus rates, starting from Rs 40 per thousand, depending on the nature of the product and its maturity.
4. Himalayan Life Insurance
Himalayan Life Insurance has announced a wide range of bonus rates, from Rs 18 to Rs 86 per thousand. Although Rs 86 is among the highest in the market, it applies to very limited policies. The majority of its offerings fall between Rs 56 and Rs 75.
5. Asian Life Insurance
Asian Life has set bonus rates between Rs 61 and Rs 75 per thousand for most of its endowment and whole life policies. For child insurance plans, the rates are slightly lower, between Rs 42 and Rs 52, in line with typical risk-return profiles for those products.
6. Citizen Life Insurance
Citizen Life has declared bonus rates ranging from Rs 25 to Rs 75 per thousand. Its highest return is offered under the “Citizen Shubharambha Yojana,” while other standard policies fall within the mid-range depending on policy tenure and structure.
7. IME Life Insurance
Ime Life reported bonus rates between Rs 22 and Rs 80 per thousand. As with other insurers, higher rates are allocated to long-term and traditional life plans, while newer or shorter-term policies attract relatively lower bonuses.
8. Sanima Reliance Life Insurance
Sanima Reliance has published bonus rates ranging from Rs 19 to Rs 70 per thousand. The variation depends on the policy type and term, with maximum rates generally seen in whole life and long-duration policies.
9. MetLife
MetLife, an international insurer in Nepal, declared rates between Rs 45 and Rs 75 per thousand. Its Education Protection Plan carries the highest rate, while standard endowment and term life policies fall in the middle of the bonus range.
10. Reliable Nepal Life Insurance
Reliable Nepal Life Insurance has announced bonus rates ranging from Rs 20 to Rs 75 per thousand. The company’s higher bonuses are linked to long-term traditional life plans, whereas short-term and newer products are associated with modest bonuses.
11. LIC Nepal
Lic Nepal, one of the oldest insurance providers in the country, has declared bonus rates from Rs 41 to Rs 65 per thousand. However, its child-focused insurance policies offer slightly better returns, reaching up to Rs 64 in some cases.
12. Prabhu Life Insurance
Prabhu Life Insurance has declared bonus rates between Rs 40 and Rs 70 per thousand, with higher rates going to longer-term and traditional policies. The company has shown steady performance in terms of actuarial strength and bonus consistency.
Meanwhile, Sun Nepal Life Insurance and one other company have not yet declared their bonus rates. Sun Nepal has announced that its rates will be made public within the week.
These bonuses will be added to the maturity value or paid out during claims, providing additional benefits to policyholders.
