Supreme Court Orders Priority Hearing on Writ Against Insurance Authority Chair Appointment

Kathmandu — The Supreme Court has directed its administration to prioritize the hearing of a writ petition filed against the appointment of Sharad Ojha as Chairman of the Nepal Insurance Authority.
A joint bench comprising Justices Mohammad Musalman and Bal Krishna Dhakal issued the order following deliberations on whether an interim order was warranted in the case. Citing Rule 73 of the Supreme Court Rules, 2074 BS, the bench stated that the matter requires prompt resolution and must be listed for hearing with priority.
The writ petition was filed by advocate Indira Dhamala, who has challenged the decision of the Government of Nepal’s Council of Ministers to appoint Ojha to the post. The petition seeks annulment of the appointment, alleging procedural or legal shortcomings.
