Nepal Insurance Authority Organizes Awareness Program in Bajhang to Promote Rural Insurance Access

Kathmandu — The Nepal Insurance Authority’s Sudurpaschim Province Office conducted an insurance awareness program in Chainpur, Bajhang, on Thursday, aiming to promote insurance literacy and improve access to insurance services in rural areas.
The event, held at Jayaprithivi Municipality, was inaugurated by Mayor Chetraj Bajal, who emphasized the need for insurance to ensure financial protection through risk transfer. He stated that the municipality would incorporate insurance in its future policies and programs and expressed readiness to collaborate with the Insurance Authority.
Chief Administrative Officer Siddhiraj Pandit, speaking as a guest, echoed the mayor’s commitment and pledged to prioritize agricultural insurance in the upcoming fiscal year.
Kedar Nath Bhatta, Chief of the Sudurpaschim Province Office of the Nepal Insurance Authority, delivered a detailed presentation on the importance of insurance, different types of policies, the claim process, and the critical role local governments play in expanding insurance coverage. He assured that the Authority is prepared to provide technical assistance in formulating insurance-related policies at the local level.
During the discussion, participants raised concerns about insurance companies refusing crop insurance, challenges in health and agricultural insurance, and unresolved issues surrounding COVID-19 insurance claims.
The program saw participation from ward chairpersons, municipal officials, representatives of insurance companies, local cooperatives, and prominent farmers.
