Kathmandu – The Nepal Insurance Authority’s Sudurpaschim Province Office organized an insurance awareness and interaction program in Khaptadchanna Rural Municipality of Bajhang district. The event aimed to educate local government representatives, employees, and residents about insurance policies and practices, with a focus on agricultural coverage.

According to Kedar Nath Bhatta, Chief of the Insurance Authority’s Sudurpaschim Province Office, the program was attended by a wide range of participants, including rural municipality officials, ward representatives, teachers, insurance professionals, and farmers.

Assistant Director Laiek Ram Chaudhary delivered a presentation explaining various aspects of insurance. During the interaction session, locals expressed concerns regarding the lack of crop insurance, financial difficulties caused by policy non-renewals, and unethical practices by agents who collected money but failed to deposit premiums. Questions were also raised about the ideal timing for approaching insurers when purchasing agricultural coverage.

Vice-Chairman of Khaptadchanna Rural Municipality Bishnu Kumar Thapa, who was the chief guest of the event, emphasized the value of insurance in providing financial support during crises, particularly in households where the breadwinner is lost.

Special guest Surendra Bahadur Rokaya, Acting Chief Administrative Officer, along with officials from the Nepal Insurance Authority and other community leaders, also attended the program.
