Over Rs 14.5 Million in Insurance Claims Paid After Tinkune Incident, Majority Still Pending

Kathmandu — Non-life insurance companies in Nepal have disbursed over Rs 14.5 million in compensation following the violent clashes and property damage during the royalist movement in Tinkune on Chaitra 15, 2081 (March 30, 2025) .
According to data, a total of 50 insurance claims were lodged in the aftermath of the incident, amounting to approximately Rs 42.18 million. Out of this, insurers have paid Rs 14.58 million so far, leaving 20 claims worth Rs 25.58 million pending.
National Insurance Company received the highest number of individual claims, totaling 11. Siddhartha Premier followed with eight, Salico with seven, IGI Prudential with six, Shikhar with five, and Neco Insurance with four. The remaining claims were spread across various other insurers, each receiving one to two submissions.
Among the insurers, eight companies have partially settled claims, while four have yet to disburse any amount. National Life, Salico, and Siddhartha Premier each settled six claims. Shikhar Insurance fulfilled five, IGI Prudential settled three, and Neco Insurance paid two. Meanwhile, Nepal Insurance and Rastriya Beema Company have each cleared one claim.
The damage claims primarily concern property and vehicles. Of the total amount, Rs 25.38 million corresponds to 21 claims related to the arson and destruction of homes and buildings. Another Rs 13.58 million stems from 24 claims for private vehicle damage. In addition, two claims worth Rs 1.61 million were filed for damage to government vehicles.
