NLG Insurance Partners with UNDP to Launch Inclusive Insurance Program

Kathmandu – NLG Insurance Company Limited is set to implement an inclusive insurance program in partnership with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). The initiative will be carried out under the Inclusive Insurance Innovation Challenge (IIC), a competition aimed at enhancing access to insurance for underserved populations in Nepal.

According to the company, NLG Insurance emerged as the winner among 14 participating insurers in the nationwide competition organized by UNDP. As part of the program, a bilateral agreement was signed between NLG Insurance and UNDP during an event held yesterday

The partnership includes a financial assistance package of USD 20,000, which will be utilized to design and launch a new insurance policy targeted at low-income and marginalized communities.

Sunil Ballav Pant, Chief Executive Officer of NLG Insurance, expressed his enthusiasm, stating that this partnership will enhance the company’s capacity and help them to deliver meaningful insurance services to those who need it the most.

Access to insurance remains a significant challenge for the poor in Nepal. While certain government-mandated insurance services are available to the public, most offerings remain concentrated in urban centers, leaving rural and low-income populations underserved.

Through this program, NLG Insurance aims to bridge this gap by promoting inclusive insurance solutions that ensure wider financial protection for vulnerable communities across the country.
