Insurance Stocks Surge as NEPSE Rises; Shikhar Insurance Leads with 5.4% Gain

Kathmandu — On the last trading day of the week, Nepal’s stock market witnessed a modest upward movement, with the NEPSE index climbing by 9.14 points to close at 2703.96. The insurance sector, in particular, saw notable gains, as share prices of 27 insurance companies turned green, indicating a positive shift in investor sentiment.
Both sub-indices of the insurance group posted gains on Thursday. The life insurance sub-index rose by 2.56 percent, while the non-life insurance sub-index increased by 2.24 percent.
Shikhar Insurance emerged as the day’s top performer, with its share price surging by 5.40 percent to Rs 788.41, delivering significant gains to its shareholders. United Ajod Insurance also posted strong growth, with its stock price rising by 5.11 percent.
Nepal Insurance saw a 4.79 percent increase in its share price, and Prabhu Insurance gained 3.68 percent. Himalayan Everest Insurance recorded a rise of 2.92 percent, while Sanima GIC advanced by 2.60 percent. Sagarmatha Lumbini Insurance also posted a solid gain of 2.21 percent.
Among other companies, IGI Prudential climbed by 1.94 percent, Neco Insurance by 1.41 percent, and RBCL by 0.81 percent. Siddhartha Premier Insurance saw a more modest increase of 0.71 percent, NLG Insurance by 0.07 percent, and Nepal Micro Insurance by 0.34 percent.
