Complaint Disposal Rate Drops at Nepal Insurance Authority as Pending Cases Rise

Kathmandu — The Nepal Insurance Authority has resolved 113 insurance-related complaints over the past 11 months of the current fiscal year, marking a decline in its complaint disposal rate compared to the previous year. The latest data, made public by the Authority, shows a growing backlog of unresolved cases.
According to the report, a total of 209 new complaints were registered during the review period at the Authority’s central and provincial offices. When combined with 287 pending cases carried over from the previous fiscal year and three appeal cases, the total number of complaints reached 499.
Out of these, the Authority issued formal decisions on 77 cases and facilitated mutual agreements in 36, totaling 113 complaints resolved. However, this figure is significantly lower than last year’s 150 cases resolved during the same period, indicating a slowdown in the complaint-handling process.
As of the end of the month of Jestha of the current fiscal year, 386 complaints remain unresolved—an increase in the number of pending cases compared to last year.
