IME Life Insurance Retains ‘Care NP Triple B Plus’ Credit Rating

Kathmandu – Care Ratings Nepal Limited has reaffirmed the credit rating of IME Life Insurance Company Limited at ‘Care NP Triple B Plus (Issuer Rating)’. This rating signifies a medium level of creditworthiness and timely servicing of financial obligations with moderate credit risk.
The reaffirmation follows a comprehensive evaluation of the company’s financial health, managerial efficiency, market presence, and claim settlement capacity. According to Care Ratings Nepal, IME Life has demonstrated satisfactory performance in key areas such as premium collection, investment diversification, risk management, and claim servicing.
The rating agency also noted that the company’s unaudited financial performance for the first nine months of fiscal year 2081/82 (Shrawan to Chaitra) has remained satisfactory. Furthermore, IME Life’s solvency profile continues to exceed regulatory requirements, reflecting adequate financial stability as of the end of FY 2080/81.
The assessment further highlights several strengths, including the company’s strong promoter backing, a competent board of directors and management team, and a satisfactory investment portfolio. IME Life’s growing branch network and reinsurance arrangements were also considered favorable factors.
Looking ahead, Care Ratings Nepal emphasized that the company’s ability to sustain the quality of its investment portfolio and diversify its insurance offerings will be critical in maintaining or improving its credit rating. Maintaining an adequate solvency margin above regulatory thresholds will also remain a key sensitivity factor for future evaluations.
