Supreme Court Denies Interim Order for Suspended Nepal Insurance Authority Chairman Sharad Ojha

August 4th, 2025

Kathmandu – The Supreme Court has declined to issue an interim order in favor of Sharad Ojha, the suspended Chairman of the Nepal Insurance Authority, effectively blocking his request to be reinstated immediately.

A joint bench of Justices Hari Prasad Phuyal and Shanti Singh Thapa issued the decision on Monday, stating that there is no need for an interim order at this stage. Ojha had approached the court following his automatic suspension by the Government of Nepal after the Council of Ministers formed a three-member investigation committee against him on Ashar 30.

Ojha filed a writ petition, arguing that the formation of the probe panel was unlawful and demanding that he be reinstated without delay. He had also requested an interim order from the apex court, seeking to resume his duties as chairman while the case was under consideration.

During today’s hearing, however, the Supreme Court concluded that an interim reinstatement was not warranted. The case will now proceed under the regular judicial process.
