Development Banks in Nepal Post Over Rs 5.60 Billion Profit in FY 2081/082

Kathmandu – National-level development banks in Nepal have reported robust growth in profitability, earning over Rs 5.60 billion in the last fiscal year, according to financial statements up to FY 2081/082. The eight banks currently operating in this sector recorded a combined profit of Rs 5.60 billion, marking a 22.01 percent increase compared to Rs 4.59 billion.
Muktinath Bikash Bank emerged as the most profitable bank during the period, posting a profit of Rs 1.53 billion, a 30.70 percent increase from Rs 1.17 billion in the previous fiscal year. Garima Bikash Bank, while second in overall profit, recorded the highest growth rate, with profits soaring by 201.97 percent to Rs 1.31 billion.
Shine Resunga Development Bank’s profit increased marginally by 0.48 percent to Rs 688.6 million, and Shangrila Development Bank reported a 6.51 percent rise to Rs 537.09 million. Mahalaxmi Bikash Bank’s profit also grew by 1.26 percent, reaching Rs 506.6 million.
Not all development banks experienced growth. Lumbini Bikash Bank’s profit fell by 30.13 percent to Rs 379.8 million, while Jyoti Bikash Bank saw a steep decline of 92.74 percent, earning only Rs 12.3 million.
