August 19th, 2025

Kathmandu – Shikhar Insurance has introduced a new health insurance scheme, Shikhar Health Security, plan aimed at addressing rising medical expenses in Nepal. The scheme was formally launched during a program organized at Medicity Hospital on Bhadra 2 (August 18).

Under the plan, individuals as well as entire families can obtain coverage of up to Rs 2 million. The company stated that the product is designed to serve as a comprehensive and long-term health security option in the Nepali insurance market.

The scheme offers cashless health services at recognized hospitals across the country, allowing insured members to receive treatment directly while Shikhar Insurance settles the expenses with the hospital. For outpatient treatment, the plan provides up to 10 percent of the insured amount, with a maximum limit of Rs 100,000.

Coverage also includes medical costs incurred up to 30 days before hospitalization and 60 days after discharge, as well as more than 150 day-care procedures and treatments for newborns requiring hospitalization.

In addition, policyholders are eligible for a “no claim bonus” at renewal if no claims are made during the policy period, providing long-term financial benefits.

Shikhar Health Suraksha is available not only to Nepali citizens but also to foreign nationals residing in Nepal. Highlighting it as a hassle-free, inclusive plan, the company said it expects the scheme to emerge as a significant new choice in the country’s health insurance sector.
