Insurance Companies Urged to Submit Insurance Claims by Ashoj 1

September 16th, 2025

Kathmandu – Insurance companies have been asked to submit all claims related to damages from the recent Gen Z movement to the Insurance Authority by Ashoj 1.

Authorities report that delays in damage assessments have occurred due to arson at key offices, including the ward office and local police station, which are crucial for verifying claims. Insurance companies have now begun deploying surveyors to affected sites to expedite assessments.

The Insurance Authority stated that insurance claims totaling over Rs 27 billion have been filed so far, with more expected as companies continue to process submissions.

The authority emphasized that insured individuals who face issues—such as delayed payments, denial of claims, or unfair determination of liability—should file a complaint. “Legal provisions exist for those who have suffered loss of life or property during the events of Bhadra 23 and 24, 2082, to receive claim payments according to the terms of their insurance policies,” the Authority said in a notice.

During the Gen Z protest, significant damage occurred to both government and private properties. Commercial establishments, media houses, and individual homes were reportedly vandalized and destroyed by the anarchic group.

Insurers confirmed that claims are still being received from affected policyholders, although the exact scale of the damage is yet to be fully documented. The Insurance Authority has urged companies to expedite claim payments and address any issues promptly.
