IGI Prudential Launches Innovative Insurance Plan to Promote Safe Tourism in Nepal

September 28th, 2025

Kathmandu – IGI Prudential Insurance Limited has introduced a new insurance plan designed to promote Nepal as a safe and reliable destination for international tourists. The initiative, launched in collaboration with Himalayan Guardian Nepal (HGN) Trekking and Safety Equipment Management Company, is specifically designed to cater to foreign visitors engaged in cultural tours, trekking, and mountain climbing.

The insurance plan offers comprehensive coverage for tourists, including rescue expenses, hospital treatment, surgery, medication, altitude-related complications, permanent disability, and death benefits. In the event of an accident, tourists can access cashless treatment facilities, while a special satellite-connected device ensures direct contact with rescue services for immediate assistance. Depending on the situation, injured tourists can be transported swiftly to hospitals via land or helicopter.

Speaking on the launch, IGI Prudential CEO Yugesh Bhakta Bade Shrestha highlighted that the scheme aims not only to market Nepal as a safer destination but also to encourage longer stays by tourists. “Our goal is not merely to sell insurance. We want every tourist visiting Nepal to feel secure and know that emergency support is available immediately if needed,” he stated.

To enhance support, the plan also provides continuous assistance through a 24-hour multilingual helpline and collaboration with international rescue organizations, ensuring tourists receive prompt guidance during emergencies.
