Life Insurance Premiums Reach Rs 35.99 Billion in Bhadra

Kathmandu – Life insurance and micro life insurance companies in Nepal reported strong business performance in the month of Bhadra of the current fiscal year, with total premium collections amounting to Rs 35.99 billion.
According to financial statements released by the Nepal Insurance Authority, 14 life insurance and 3 micro life insurance companies sold 10 different types of insurance policies during the review period.
Among these, endowment life insurance policies generated the highest revenue, contributing Rs 15.83 billion—about 40 percent of the total premium collection. A total of 121 policies were sold under this category, making it the largest contributor to the industry’s income.
The second-largest contributor was the Advance Payment Life Insurance, which collected Rs 6.93 billion in premiums, representing 22.93 percent of the total collection. Companies have added various rider services to this policy, making it an increasingly attractive choice for citizens.
In third place were child-related life insurance policies, which brought in Rs 5.44 billion, accounting for 16.48 percent of premiums. Meanwhile, converted endowment life insurance generated Rs 4.19 billion, or 12.78 percent of the total collection.

Other policy types—including single premium life insurance, whole life insurance, foreign employment life insurance, micro life insurance, and miscellaneous products—each contributed less than 10 percent of the overall premium collection.
Industry experts highlight that insurers are diversifying their products with new riders, critical illness (CI) benefits, and flexible facilities, following approvals from the Nepal Insurance Authority. Furthermore, insurance companies have introduced online policy purchase options, aligning with Nepal’s growing adoption of digital services and consumer-friendly innovations.
