Himalayan Life Insurance CEO Manoj Kumar Lal Karna Resigns

Kathmandu — The Board of Directors of Himalayan Life Insurance Company has accepted the resignation of Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Manoj Kumar Lal Karna, following days of protests by the company’s agents and employees. The board’s decision was made during a meeting held on Monday evening.

Insurance agents affiliated with the company had been staging demonstrations demanding that the bonus rate be increased to at least Rs 50 per unit. The agitation intensified on Monday when agents and employees reportedly barred the CEO and other staff from entering the office premises, calling for his immediate resignation.

According to sources, Karna tendered his resignation earlier that afternoon after being unable to enter the office amid the ongoing protests. The board later convened to accept his resignation formally.
