From Foreign Employment to Life Insurance Success with Citizen Life : Inspiring Journey of Toyanath Dahal
Kathmandu — The path of life is rarely smooth, yet some turn their struggles into stories of inspiration. One such story is that of Toyanath Dahal, who, after decades of hardship and perseverance, has established himself as a successful agency manager at Citizen Life Insurance Company Limited.
Dahal, who was born in Chaitra 10, 2029 BS, in Dumrise of Taplejung district, his journey reflects resilience, faith, and transformation. The eldest son of Dhan Kumar Dahal and Yogmaya Dahal, he began his professional life in foreign employment, spending 19 years in Saudi Arabia, where he also helped form a cooperative network for Nepali migrant workers. Upon returning home in 2070 BS, he ran his own cooperative before finding a new calling in the insurance sector.
His entry into Citizen Life began in 2075 BS, following encouragement from Ishwari Prasad Baral, Senior Agency Manager at Citizen Life. After completing two days of agent training, Dahal officially started his insurance career on Chaitra 28, 2075 BS. “I once had a negative perception of insurance, but now I see it as a profession that changes lives,” Dahal shared.
With his polite communication, deep understanding of financial services, and dedication to service, Dahal quickly rose to prominence, ensuring the well-being of hundreds of people across eastern Nepal. He credits Citizen Life’s supportive environment, attractive bonus structure, and continuous training programs for helping agents grow professionally.
“Today, if I don’t talk to at least two or three people about insurance in a day, I feel uneasy,” Dahal said with a smile, reflecting his passion for the work. Having overcome the uncertainties of foreign employment and the challenges of running a cooperative during the COVID-19 pandemic, Dahal now finds fulfillment in helping others secure their futures.
