Binod Pyakurel’s Journey of Struggle and Success at Citizen Life Insurance

Born in Nuwakot district, Pyakurel is now based in Kathmandu, where he is actively engaged in the life insurance business. His transition into insurance marked a turning point—not only reshaping his career but redefining his identity and purpose. What began as a personal decision to insure his own life gradually evolved into a mission to help others manage risk and secure their futures.
Before entering the insurance sector, Pyakurel was involved in the transportation field and later ran an accounting office in Ekantakuna. While the decision to become an insurance agent came with uncertainty, his determination, faith in the profession, and willingness to learn helped him overcome initial doubts. Today, he is widely recognized as a professional and successful Agency Manager at Citizen Life Insurance.
Pyakurel officially began his insurance journey after obtaining his agent license on 22 Shrawan 2080. Since then, he has insured hundreds of individuals, playing a significant role in transferring life risks and promoting financial security among citizens. He believes misconceptions surrounding insurance largely stem from a lack of awareness and research, stressing the importance of transparency and ethical conduct in the profession.
“Insurance should never be sold through false promises,” Pyakurel says. “When policies are explained clearly and honestly, claim settlements and future processes remain smooth.”
Educated at Bageshwari Secondary School in Nuwakot, Pyakurel passed his SLC in 2052 and later gained work experience abroad. Alongside professional growth, he has built a reputation in his community as a socially responsible individual, supporting people facing economic hardship.
According to Pyakurel, people choose insurance not merely based on companies but on the credibility, honesty, and social image of agents.
