A Gift for the Future: Sun Nepal Life Insurance Policy Presented to Son on His Birthday

March 22nd, 2026

Kathmandu — A growing number of people are choosing meaningful, long-term gifts over expensive items, jewelry, or material possessions for special occasions such as birthdays, weddings, and festivals. One such example comes from Sainamaina Municipality–8, where Prachanda Bhari marked his son Prashant Bhari’s 19th birthday by gifting him a life insurance policy from Sun Nepal Life.

Bhari purchased a life insurance plan with a coverage of NPR 2.5 million and presented it as a birthday gift. He said the decision was driven by a desire to give something more purposeful and beneficial for the future rather than a typical physical present. In his view, life insurance not only provides financial protection against unexpected risks but also encourages disciplined saving habits. He added that the gift was meant to help his son appreciate the importance of financial security, planning, and savings from a young age.

Bhari also shared that he has been impressed by the services and features offered by Sun Nepal Life Insurance. He pointed to emergency support provisions and newer offerings like “Sun Medicare” as examples that enhance the value of insurance. He believes that wider adoption of such services could provide significant relief during difficult times.

In recent years, life insurance has increasingly come to be seen not just as risk protection, but as a reflection of financial responsibility, family commitment, and forward-thinking. As a result, gifting insurance policies on special occasions is steadily gaining popularity.

Laxmi Pandey, branch manager of Sun Nepal Life Insurance’s Murgiya branch, noted that this trend is helping expand and strengthen the life insurance sector. She said it is also playing an important role in building public trust and raising awareness about the importance and benefits of life insurance.
