Global IME Bank Launches ‘Goal Based Saving’ Scheme

Kathmandu – Global IME Bank Limited has rolled out a new product, the ‘Goal Based Saving’ scheme, designed to help customers set and achieve financial targets with greater convenience. The scheme, available through the Global Smart Plus mobile banking app, allows users to plan their savings by selecting a target amount and duration, while the system calculates the required monthly savings, applicable interest rate, and maturity timeline.
Customers can set savings goals ranging from NPR 50,000 to NPR 500,000 with a tenure of six months to two years. They can also choose whether to have the required monthly amount directly deducted from their primary savings account or deposit it manually on a preferred date. The platform provides complete access to statements, fund status, and other details, and customers are also given the flexibility to break their savings goals through the app without visiting a branch.
One of the highlights of the scheme is the round-up saving feature, which allows small amounts from every merchant QR payment to be automatically saved into the goal account. Customers can choose to round up their payments to the nearest chosen figure, save a fixed amount from each transaction, or allocate a set percentage of every payment. For instance, if Rs 224 is paid through a merchant QR and the nearest round-up is set at Rs 225, an additional Rs 1 will be saved, while a flat or percentage-based option ensures a consistent contribution with every transaction.
The bank has announced that the scheme will also provide the highest interest rates on the amount saved, making it a rewarding option for customers who want to plan ahead for future financial needs.
