According to the Nepal Panchang Judging Development Committee, the Khandgras lunar eclipse will take place on Saturday 11th of Kartik on Ashwin Shukla Purnima.
Theologian Prada Devmani Bhattarai, who is also a member of the committee, informed that the only lunar eclipse of this year will start on Saturday at 1:19 pm. It is mentioned in the calendar (almanac) approved by the committee that the moksha of the eclipse will end at 2:38 pm.
During the eclipse, daily and regular activities are done. One should not do deeds that are done with special wishes. The theologian Bhattarai also said that there are three scriptures that do not do such actions from Ashwin Shukla Chaturdashi to Kartik Krishna Pratipada. According to the committee, this lunar eclipse is the only eclipse to occur in 2080.
Prada Ramachandra Gautam, a theologian, said that it is mentioned in the scriptures that sutak starts nine hours before the lunar eclipse. From 4:19 p.m., food is prohibited except for children, the elderly and the sick. There is a scriptural saying that chanting, bathing, meditation, reading etc. during the eclipse will be fruitful.
Last year there was solar eclipse on 8th October and lunar eclipse on 22nd. According to the lunar month last year, there was a solar eclipse on Kartik Krishna Aunsi and a lunar eclipse on Kartik Shukla Purnima. A solar eclipse occurs on the forefinger and a lunar eclipse occurs on the full moon.
