Insurance Authority Chair Chandrakala Paudel Transferred from Federal Affairs Ministry
Kathmandu — Chandrakala Paudel, who has been serving as the acting Chairperson of the Nepal Insurance Authority on behalf of the Government of Nepal, has been transferred as part of a broader reshuffle of senior bureaucrats. The government has transferred 10 secretaries in its latest round of administrative changes.
The government has transferred Chandrakala Paudel from the Ministry of Federal Affairs and General Administration to the Office of the Vice President. Sources indicate that dissatisfaction with her performance at the ministry contributed to the decision.
Paudel had been serving as Secretary at the Ministry of Federal Affairs and General Administration before being reassigned to the Office of the Vice President.
Meanwhile, Dr. Krishna Hari Pushkar, who was serving at the Office of the Vice President, has been transferred to the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers and placed in the additional group.
Pushkar was reportedly detained and questioned by police for seven hours last Thursday following instructions from the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers. The action was taken after allegations that he had bypassed the chain of command and sent an SMS directly to Prime Minister K.P. Sharma Oli.
The government has also transferred Revenue Secretary Bhupal Baral from the Ministry of Finance to Gandaki Province outside the Kathmandu Valley.
The reason for Baral’s transfer has not been officially confirmed. However, there is speculation that the move may be linked to concerns over a possible leak of information related to tax rates, although this has not been independently verified.
