Commercial Banks Earn Nearly NPR 70 Billion in Profit, Four Post Declines and One Turns Loss-Making

Kathmandu — Commercial banks in Nepal earned nearly NPR 70 billion in net profit during fiscal year 2025/26. According to the fourth-quarter financial statements published by 20 commercial banks, the banks posted a combined net profit of NPR 69.87 billion.

The combined profit increased by 32.27 percent, or NPR 17.05 billion, compared with the previous fiscal year. Commercial banks had earned a combined net profit of NPR 52.82 billion in fiscal year 2024/25.

Nabil Bank recorded the highest net profit, earning NPR 790.57 million.

Kumari Bank ranked second with a net profit of NPR 738.72 million. The bank’s profit increased by 305.96 percent compared with the previous fiscal year, when it had earned NPR 181.96 million.

Global IME Bank ranked third with a net profit of NPR 622.71 million, an increase of 22.67 percent year-on-year. Everest Bank earned NPR 506.99 million, with its profit increasing by 4.75 percent.

Rastriya Banijya Bank posted a net profit of NPR 455.69 million, up 60.68 percent from the previous year. Nepal Bank earned NPR 450.20 million, an increase of 46.20 percent.

Prime Bank recorded a net profit of NPR 411.26 million, up 28.49 percent. NMB Bank earned NPR 401.37 million, with its profit increasing by 40.60 percent.

Sanima Bank posted a net profit of NPR 355.01 million, an increase of 38.01 percent. Siddhartha Bank earned NPR 351.94 million, with its profit rising by 4.54 percent.

Laxmi Sunrise Bank recorded a net profit of NPR 311.71 million. However, its profit declined by 23.26 percent compared with the previous year. Standard Chartered Bank earned NPR 285.21 million, down 5.39 percent.

Nepal Investment Mega Bank posted a net profit of NPR 274.72 million, a decline of 36.59 percent. Agricultural Development Bank earned NPR 263.64 million, with its profit falling by 29.52 percent.

Machhapuchchhre Bank recorded a net profit of NPR 211.41 million, up 12.24 percent. Citizens Bank earned NPR 209.86 million, with its profit increasing by 63.05 percent.

Nepal SBI Bank posted a net profit of NPR 204.43 million, an increase of 12.89 percent. Himalayan Bank earned NPR 148.04 million, marking a 1,041.16 percent increase from the previous year. The bank had earned only NPR 12.97 million in the previous fiscal year.

NIC Asia Bank posted a net profit of NPR 18.17 million. The bank returned to profit after recording a net loss of NPR 387.20 million in the previous fiscal year.

Prabhu Bank, however, slipped into a loss during the review period. The bank reported a net loss of NPR 24.12 million, compared with a net profit of NPR 87.23 million in the previous fiscal year. This represents a 127.66 percent decline in profit year-on-year.
