Preliminary Insurance Claims for Bhotekoshi-Trishuli Flood Damage Reach NPR 25.87 Billion

Kathmandu — Preliminary insurance claims for damage caused by floods in the Bhotekoshi and Trishuli rivers have reached around NPR 25.87 billion across 15 non-life insurers.

According to claim details received by the Nepal Insurance Authority as of September 1, 2026, 583 policyholders have filed preliminary claims totaling NPR 25.873579 billion.

The Oriental Insurance Company has recorded the largest claim, with eight policyholders seeking NPR 13.042126 billion.

United Ajod Insurance has received claims from 38 policyholders totaling NPR 4.974872 billion, while Sanima GIC Insurance has received 102 claims worth NPR 2.102872 billion. Siddhartha Premier Insurance has recorded 67 claims totaling NPR 1.887376 billion.

Similarly, Shikhar Insurance has received 127 claims worth NPR 1.875459 billion, Himalayan Everest Insurance has recorded 45 claims totaling NPR 647.820 million, and Neco Insurance has received 66 claims worth NPR 517.037 million.

Engineering and contractors’ risk insurance accounts for the largest share of the claims by category. A total of 52 policyholders have filed preliminary claims worth NPR 20.507790 billion under this category.
