Kathmandu : Shahbaz Sharif has been elected as the Prime Minister of Pakistan after the recently concluded elections. With the formation of a new government under the leadership of Sharif, Pakistan has moved forward with a new political scenario. Shahwaz Sharif, who had became the Prime Minister for 16 months in the past also, is the brother of former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.

Shahbaz Sharif, who is experienced in the governance of Pakistan, has previously worked as the Chief Minister of Punjab for 13 years. Sharif became Prime Minister after his party got the support of Bhutto’s Pakistan People’s Party. He received 201 votes in the voting for the post of Prime Minister in Pakistan’s National Assembly on Sunday. Tehreek-e-Insaf supported candidate Umar Ayub got only 92 votes.

Sharif’s party, the Pakistan Muslim League, came second in the recently concluded election, winning 73 seats. Similarly, Pakistan Peoples Party won 54 seats. MQM Pakistan, a party participating in Sharif’s government, won 17 seats.

Imran Khan’s party was banned by the Election Commission of Pakistan from participating in the general elections due to corruption. However, more than 90 independent MPs of that party won the election.

On the other hand, Bhutto-backed People’s Party and Nawaz Sharif-backed Pakistan Muslim League Party, which have been bitterly clashing parties for decades became together due to the new party founded by cricketer Imran Khan, now they have formed a new government. Even in Nepal, the same situation can be seen as Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) is giving a hard fight to the old two parties (UML and Moist), which were traditionally in a hostile relationship but have formed a government together.
