Same as the government, the local level also needs to bring an insurance policy – Chairman Silwal

In the organization of Nepal Insurance Authority, an informative interactive program related to insurance was completed on Sunday in Kalaiya sub-metropolitan city of Bara district of Madhesh province.

In the program, the Chairman of Nepal Insurance Authority, Surya Prasad Silwal, has asked for a mandatory provision of insurance by linking with the services of sub-metropolitans for the financial protection of the citizens’ houses and property.

Chairman Silwal said, “The government has brought a national insurance policy, now the local level also needs to bring an insurance policy for the development and expansion of insurance, the authority is ready to provide necessary support for that.

“Nathu Sah, the chief administrative officer of Kalaiya sub-metropolitan city, informed that for the development and expansion of insurance, the sub-metropolitan city has made an insurance-related procedure by including health, agriculture and livestock insurance, and expressed his commitment to include home insurance in the procedure as well.

In the event, Dinesh Kumar Lal, director of Nepal Insurance Authority, gave a presentation on the introduction, importance and need of insurance, methods of insurance, claim payment process and the role of local level in the development and expansion of access to insurance.

The participants in the program held the opinion that the insurance company should make arrangements to inform the insured through digital technology about the insurance, the insurance fee paid and the date of renewal, authority should be delegated to the company’s branch offices, insurance claim payment should be easy and simple, insurance-related publicity should be widespread, etc.

People’s representatives and employees of Kalaiya sub-metropolitan city, representatives of various agencies, heads of provincial and branch offices of insurance companies participated in the program. The program was conducted by Kusum Sharma, Head of Nepal Insurance Authority, Madhesh Province Office.
