Government to Implement Classification of Insurance Surveyors

February 17th, 2025

Kathmandu – The government is set to implement the classification of insurance surveyors through new insurance regulations. The draft of the regulation, currently in its final stage before publication in the gazette, introduces a three-tier classification system for surveyors under categories A, B, and C.

This new provision addresses a long-standing demand from insurance surveyors for clear classification based on experience and work performance. According to the regulation, surveyors who have worked for 15 years and evaluated the specified amount or number of surveys determined by the Insurance Authority will be classified in Category A.

Surveyors with continuous service of seven years who have also evaluated the specified amount and number of surveys will be classified in Category B. All other licensed surveyors will fall under Category C. The Insurance Authority will finalize the specific amount and number of surveys required for each category in consultation with the Insurance Surveyors Association.
