Insurance Companies Should work to Increase Trust in Insurance: Chief Minister Surendraraj Pandey
Kathmandu : An insurance-related interaction and discussion program with the provincial government was completed today at the office of the Chief Minister and Council of Ministers of Gandaki Province, Pokhara, organizing program by the Nepal Insurance Authority.
The chief guest of the program, Chief Minister of Gandaki Province, Surendra Raj Pandey said that in order to expand localize the scope of insurance, it is necessary to explain to every citizen why insurance should be taken and what are the benefits of insurance.
Informing that the state government is ready to support the work of increasing public awareness about insurance at the local level, Chief Minister Pandey said, “Claims should be paid on time after insurance. There are complaints from victims who have not received claim payment from the insurance company.
Actions should be taken to increase trust in insurance.” Chairman of Nepal Insurance Authority Surya Prasad Silwal pointed out the need for the provincial government to introduce a provincial insurance policy for the development and expansion of insurance access.
President Silwal has suggested to encourage those who can afford to get insurance and to identify low-income groups and arrange for insurance as financial protection can be achieved by transferring risk through insurance.
While answering the questions raised in the program, President Silwal informed that the Ministry of Finance is taking initiatives regarding the payment of the remaining claims of Corona insurance.
President Silwal mentioned that insurance-related complaints and complaints are being heard by the authority and said that it can be coordinated with the regional offices of the authority to increase public awareness about insurance and address local complaints.
In the program, Director of Nepal Insurance Authority Poojan Dhungel (official) gave a presentation on the introduction of insurance, access to insurance, the existing legal system related to insurance, the role of the provincial government in expanding access to insurance, etc.
The participants in the program should not only look at the investment in agriculture and livestock insurance but also look at the product from it, emphasize on increasing public awareness about insurance, promote health insurance in accordance with the principles of insurance, They have expressed the opinions that the financial assistance allocated by the provincial government should be utilized to bring the low-income groups under the scope of insurance, the insured should also have good intentions, the government, Nepal Insurance Authority and insurance companies should realize their responsibilities and move forward.
Minister of Gandaki Province, Executive Director of Nepal Insurance Authority, Secretaries and officials of various provincial ministries, Chief Executive Officers of various insurance companies and heads of provincial offices of insurance companies participated in the program.The program was conducted by Keshav Prasad Dahal, Head of Nepal Insurance Authority, Gandaki Province Office.
