Brief Information Regarding the Process of Insurance Agent Examination Conducted by Insurance Authority
Kathmandu : Nepal Insurance Authority is conducting insurance agent exam from 31st of October, 2023 A.D. This examination is the first examination conducted by Insurance Authority. The authority has already released the question paper and schedule for the insurance agent exam. The exam will be conducted online and also through Zoom. It is said that 100 examinees can participate at a time in each examination.
The authority has prepared the question paper, question pattern and answer paper to participate in the examination. Surya Prasad Silwal, Chairman of Nepal Insurance Authority, said that they are going to take exam after making all the preparations for the agent’s license.
According to the insurance authority, the examinee will have ti pay the examination fee of 500 rupees and reserve the time. Provision has been made to participate in the examination. After paying the exam fee, the candidates will be able to participate in the exam.
The authority said that taking into consideration the situation of the agents in the remote areas, they will be allowed to give the exam through Zoom.
In order to participate in the examination, the authority has requested the insurance companies to arrange electricity supply and reliable internet service as well as IT technicians and technical equipment needed for emergency.
Only 100 examinees can participate at a time in the examination conducted for 1 hour and 30 minutes. The examinee has to choose the correct answer to at least 25 out of 50 questions within the predetermined time limit, which means candidates must get 50% correct in order to pass the examination.
Information about how to fill the exam application online and its procedures for the candidates:
In order to participate in the examination, candidates should go to the Authority’s website i.e. www.nia.gov.np and go to the Insurance Statistics and then to the Agent Information.
After opening the website, anew account of the examinee need to be created. To create a new account, choose “create a new account” from the display and then a box will open where you can enter your mobile number and password. Here the first stage finishes. In the second step the option “Go to register” appears.
At that stage, after receiving the “OTP” (the secret code that will be sent to the mobile phone) then process for registration will start.
Inside the registration you should provide (type) the received OTP code in the asked place and press the Validate button. Once the OTP code and mobile number is matched, the setting for new password will open. Then you have to enter a new password. Keep the password safe as you will need it in the future.
After the new password is set, the interface will open again. You have to login there by keeping your mobile number and set password. Then a welcome page will open.
In the next step, you have to go to the sub-menu called Examination at the bottom and go to the option called “Make Payment”
Exam fee Rs 500 can be paid through Connect IPS and eSewa available in the option given in the display. After paying the exam fee, now you will be eligible for the exam.
After the payment through eSewa or Connect ISP, next step is to go to the login again and select the date of the exam by logging in again in the same process with the given password and mobile number.
As the agent should have already taken training, he/she will have to take the exam on the question paper within the topics covered in the training and mentioned in the course. On the appointed date, one has to participate in the examination through the examination hall or Zoom a bit early from the given time and give a dignified examination in a disciplined manner.
After the examination is completed then all the candidates should wait for the result. The result will be posted online in the website or informed through the msg in your given number. After that the Authority will provide the digital license.
