Insurance Authority Reports Surge in Complaints
Kathmandu — The Nepal Insurance Authority recorded a notable number of insurance-related complaints in the opening month of fiscal year 2025/26. According to data released by the Authority, a total of 14 complaints had been registered as of July 16, 2025.
Of these, 12 complaints were registered at the Authority’s central office and two at its provincial offices during mid-July 2025. The figures indicate that policyholders and other service users continue to approach the regulator with insurance-related problems and grievances.
According to the data, 15 complaints had been decided by July 16, 2025, while six were resolved through mutual agreement. Including both decisions and settlements, a total of 21 complaints were resolved during the period.
The Authority resolved 21 complaints in mid-July 2026, the first month of fiscal year 2026/27.
Service users can file complaints with the Authority over various issues arising between insurance companies and policyholders. The regulator has been managing complaints related to claim payments, insurance contracts and other insurance services.
