Interaction program of Insurance Authority with Mahadeva Rural Municipality of Saptari is completed

Kathmandu: Nepal Insurance Authority has completed the interaction program related to insurance. Madhesh Province office of the Authority has completed the insurance related interaction program with Mahadeva Rural Municipality of Saptari on 5th of January.

Nepal Insurance Authority Madhesh Province has completed the interaction and discussion program with the local government in accordance with the approved annual program of the current year in the meeting hall of Mahadeva Municipality.

The chairmanship of the program was done by Kusum Sharma, Head of Madhesh Province Office of Nepal Insurance Authority. Mahadeva rural municipality chairman Sunil Kumar Mandal as the chief guest in the program along with the presence of chief administrative officer of the municipality Ram Lakhan Yadav and ward officials of various wards.

The program was conducted by Pratham Sagar Acharya, assistant of Nepal Insurance Authority. According to the authority, more than 90 people participated in the program, including ward presidents of various wards, members of the executive committee, municipal employees, leading farmers, representatives of civil society, other stakeholders and representatives of branch offices of insurance companies.

Nirmal Khanal, assistant director of the authority, made a presentation on the introduction of Nepal Insurance Authority along with the information regarding its job duties and rights, introduction of insurance, agricultural herbs and livestock insurance, micro insurance and other topics.

In the discussion program after the presentation, the participants raised questions on various topics of life and non-life insurance and agriculture and livestock insurance. Also, there was a discussion on how insurance and education can be linked.

Nirmal Khanal, Assistant Director of the Authority, answered the questions and queries raised during the discussion. Besides, representatives of Life and Non-Life Insurance and agricultural technicians also answered the queries raised in the local language.

The chief guest of the program, the Chairman of Mahadeva Rural Municipality, opined that the main reason for the low coverage of insurance in Madhesh Province is the low level of public awareness about insurance. Also, in the future, with the cooperation of everyone, insurance related literacy should be increased and the municipality also promised to take necessary actions for this.

He also thanked Nepal Insurance Authority Madhesh Province Office for organizing the program and contributing to increase public awareness about insurance at the local level.

At the end of the program, Kusum Sharma, Head of the Provincial Office, informed about the various activities being done by the Nepal Insurance Authority to provide insurance education to the villages to improve the poor insurance coverage of Madhesh Province. She expressed the view that the local level and even the insurance company should take necessary actions to expand insurance education. The municipality itself has requested to start this campaign by insuring its physical structures and poor citizens and to link the services of the municipality with insurance.

In addition, she asked the representatives of the insurance company to coordinate the necessary visits to the municipality from time to time while clarifying the other questions and inquiries raised during the discussion, requesting to take the insurance by understanding its service conditions and after paying the insurance fee.
