Asian Life’s delayed to pay the insurance claim kidney failure Ganga’s dialysis going to stopped

Kathmandu : Asian Life Insurance Company in Maitidevi, Kathmandu has stopped the regular payment, Dalit woman’s kidney dialysis due to delayed to treat from past nine months.

Ganga, who has a life insurance with critical care facility in Asian Life Insurance Company, has been undergoing regular dialysis since 2023 March/April 25 due to kidney failure. It has been nine months since he applied to the insurance company for critical care insurance amounting to five lakh rupees. However, the company has been trying to give the amount to the insured under various pretexts.

In the documents received by Beemapost, it is seen that the company has repeatedly requested documents from the insured. In which the money was withheld last time saying that the doctor’s letters were not understood. Ganga B.K from a poor family is also a Dalit. “My mother’s daily life is going on in a very difficult way now, because of lack of money, we have not been able to get treatment, now the dialysis has stopped.” She has also filed a complaint with the insurance authority after the dialysis was stopped. After the complaint, the insurance authority has also taken the initiative to make the payment. However, the company did not agree.

Asian Life Insurance Company did not want to tell the reason for not paying the insurance claim amount to Dalit woman who had kidney failure. When contacted with the information officer of the company, Hom Bahadur Shrestha, he responded that he is trying to get the payment as soon as possible. He also said that there was a delay because the insured did not receive the documents to be submitted.

On the other hand, according to the current law on insurance, there is a provision that the insured of critical illness should be paid immediately and cannot be withheld for a long time.
