In collective farming, farmers now have to pay for accident insurance separately, The time period has been reduced
Kathmandu : In collective farming, now farmers have to pay separate accident insurance. The Nepal Insurance Authority has issued 8-point instructions regarding accident insurance and has arranged that the accident insurance of collective farming where farmers should purchase insurance separately. According to the authority’s instructions, farmers can take out farm insurance jointly for the collective farming but they will not be allowed to take out their own accident insurance jointly. Every farmer has to take out accident insurance separately.
According to the instructions, if the farmer dies due to any accident other than suicide within the period of the policy or within one year at the most, if he/she is permanently or totally disabled, if one or both hands are disabled above the wrist, if one or both feet are disabled above the ankle and if the sight of both eyes is lost then it has been mentioned that in such cases of loss, the insurance claim will be paid.
For such insurance, the farmer who insures according to the agriculture, livestock and herb insurance policy must have a minimum insurance of 200 thousand Rupees. Farmers can purchase this insurance by paying an insurance fee of 200 rupees. Such insurance period will be one year at least.
The authority has made it mandatory for farmers who have taken out agricultural, livestock and herbal insurance policies more than once then they must take accident insurance.
