Agreement with India to import of 554 MW electricity
Kathmandu : Nepal has signed an agreement to import 554 megawatts of electricity from India. According to the Nepal Electricity Authority, the electricity import agreement between Nepal and India has been renewed for three months.
500 MW of electricity will be imported through Dhalkebar-Muzaffarpur and 54 MW of electricity to Tanakpur. As electricity production has decreased due to drought, more electricity has been imported.Currently, a total of 3,000 megawatts of electricity is being connected to the national grid, but barely 1,200 megawatts of electricity is being produced.
