Ganga B.K got 500 Thousand Rupees of claim payment from Asian Life after Beemapost’s Initiative

April 7th, 2024

Kathmandu : The Asian Life Insurance Company, which has been delaying the insured on paying the insurance claim even after the kidney failure, has now paid the claim amount of worth 500 thousand Rupees after 362 days of its claim proposed by the insured.

Even, when the regular dialysis of a ‘Dalit’ woman from Rupandehi had stopped for the past one year, the Asian Life Insurance Company had not paid the insurance claim amount saying that the insured had not complete document.

Beemapost had also tried it’s best on helping that women by taking her daughter to the authority but also the company was asking for several documents on that day.

Finally, the claim amount has been paid by the company as it is confirmed that the amount has reached to the insured’s account.

Last time, Asian Life Insurance Company sent a written letter to Ganga B.K asking to submit the reason for having only one kidney as it was seen in the doctor’s report that she had only one kidney.

In this issue, Asian Life was forced to pay the claim after Beemapost took the insured woman to the doctor and provided the medical report that she was born with only one kidney which helped to solve the issue.

Ganga, who has a life insurance with critical care facility of Asian Life Insurance Company, had been undergoing regular dialysis since 25th of Chaitra 2079 A.D due to kidney failure.

Now, she received the payment of the insurance claim after 362 days i.e. about one year after applying to the insured company for the insurance amount of 500 thousand Rupees for critical care, which is the sad news for those who thinks that insurance is very important for the future.

Ganga B.K who is from a poor family, is also a ‘Dalit’. Before, when the Asian Life Insurance Company did not paid mother’s insurance claim, her daughter Suman Bishwakarma had been running to various agencies to get the insurance claim amount.

According to the current law of insurance, the insured of critical illness must be paid immediately and cannot be withheld for a long time, but due to the lack of attention of the regulatory body (the Insurance Authority), many such insured have not been able to get their claims paid on time.

This is the discouraging news, in the insurance field even though, there is a legal provision that a written complaint can be made to the insurance authority if the insurance claim is not paid or not paid on time by any of the insurance companies.
