Finance Ministry to Appoint Acting Chairman for Nepal Insurance Authority
Kathmandu – The Nepal Insurance Authority (NIA), which has been without a chairman since Monday, is set to get a new director who will also serve as the acting chairman. The Ministry of Finance is actively preparing to assign the role temporarily to ensure continuity in the Authority’s operations.
Informal discussions were held at the Ministry of Finance yesterday to explore solutions, but no formal decisions have been made. Sources indicate that the current director, Madan Dahal, has declined to take on the additional responsibility of acting chairman, prompting the Ministry to consider sending a new director to fulfill the role until a permanent appointment is made.
According to a source within the Ministry, efforts are underway to select a joint secretary for the position, with a decision expected soon. Preparations are reportedly in progress to send an official letter to the NIA by today.
The Ministry of Finance has yet to provide details regarding the timeline for the appointment of a permanent chairman for the Nepal Insurance Authority. Further updates on the decision-making process are anticipated in the coming days.
