NIA President Chunky Chettri Advocates for Enhanced Capacity and Support for Industry Employees
Kathmandu – Nepal Insurers’ Association President and CEO of Sagarmatha Lumbini Insurance, Chunky Chhetri, has pledged to support solutions for any challenges faced by employees and surveyors in the insurance sector. Speaking at a program organized by Financial Institute Employees Union (FIEUN) today, Chhetri emphasized the association’s commitment to enhancing the capabilities of professionals working within the industry.
Chhetri addressed concerns regarding surveyor fees, stating that while complaints have been raised about low fees, the compensation for Nepali surveyors is competitive when compared to other SAARC nations. He reassured industry stakeholders that the fees offered to Nepali surveyors are not low by regional standards, affirming that the Insurance Association is open to discussing such concerns.
He also highlighted the importance of improving service facilities and employee benefits, advising insurance companies to assess and improve their offerings. According to Chhetri, insurance companies should provide clear regulations on leave schedules, service facilities, and training opportunities for their employees, and take the initiative to enhance these benefits where necessary.
In addition to focusing on employee welfare, Chhetri urged workers to prioritize skill development rather than merely focusing on incentives such as motorbikes or cars. He emphasized that increasing employee training and capacity would ultimately benefit the companies by enhancing productivity and service quality.
Chhetri further emphasized the role of surveyors in ensuring efficient claims processing, noting that their ability to quickly and accurately collect and verify data in the event of an incident plays a vital role in ensuring timely claim payments.
